The New School Year

Our first two days back at school went very well. The boys seem to like the new daily spelling program, and having separate reading times works so much better. We have finished up our unit on Knights that we began this Spring and are currently reading "Mr. Popper's Penguins" for read-a-loud time and a Magic Treehouse book on the Civil War before bed. Last night were the boys photo shoots for their soccer pictures. They both have easy going coaches this year--thank goodness for no screamers! This afternoon the boys have been playing in the backyard while I made some rice pudding for dinner, and some food to take to a family at church who is losing a loved one. It's been a beautiful day outside and I am feeling so blessed to be able to be at home taking care of my family, living every day to the fullest.

I just read your entries from your trip. Mamma mia, quanto mi manca quel bel paese! I'm so glad you had a wonderful time and I look forward to the day we will visit each other back and forth in our respective homes in Europe....At least I hope so....And now I think I'll go call you to see about visiting here where we're less than 2 hours away!
